August 7, 2019 (BOISE, ID)– Bogus Basin announced today that the Glade Runner, Idaho’s only mountain coaster, is rapidly approaching a significant benchmark: its 100,000th ride. To commemorate, the nonprofit recreation area plans to surprise one lucky passenger with a giveaay package this weekend. The prizes will include a 2019-20 winter season pass to Bogus Basin. The achievement marks the latest milestone at Bogus Basin, where employees and a supportive community have embraced a new vision for the area that is intended to secure its future.

The mountain coaster opened to the public on December 22nd, 2017, marking the first of a series of significant projects at the area. Last year, a top to bottom snowmaking system was installed, and the area is currently in the process of replacing the Morning Star chairlift with a $5 million high speed detachable quad.

Bogus Basin has invested nearly $20 million back into the area in just three years. The funds are a combination of revenue and community contributions. The improvements are part of a comprehensive multi-season master plan adopted by the nonprofit’s volunteer Board of Directors in 2016. The plan maps out Bogus Basin’s transition from a one season business model to a year-round destination for recreation and education for the entire community. After a series of strong winters, robust season pass sales, and a successful capital campaign effort, efforts to implement the plan are ahead of schedule.

“The mountain coaster has been the main attraction for our summer business, and it continues to produce the expected visits as outlined in the master plan,” said General Manager, Brad Wilson. “We will be adding even more offerings that improve the experience in both summer and winter.”

Seven-day-a-week summer operations continue at Bogus Basin through August 18th, followed by weekend operations scheduled through October 6th. Hours are 11:00am to 7:00pm until Labor Day weekend, and then 11:00am to 5:00pm starting September 7th. Offerings include the Glade Runner Mountain Coaster, Deer Point Chairlift (for scenic rides and bike transport), summer tubing, bungee trampoline, climbing wall, retail/bike rentals, Double R Ranch BBQ Smokehouse, gem panning, and a weekend bike shuttle. Free access continues to be available to a broad network of hiking and biking trails.
